Room 8 have been learning about how things change in science. Today we experimented with making hokey pokey. We mixed sugar (solid) and golden syrup (liquid) in a pan and heated it to dissolve the sugar and make the liquid mixture more viscous. We added baking soda (solid) and watched it change colour and puff up. We learnt that the baking soda mixed with the hot sugary mixture makes a gas which is why hokey pokey has holes in it. We ate the hokey pokey and it was delicious!
Wow, that is some serious science there Room 8. Perhaps I should bring in some liquid nitrogen next term for you to look at...let me know if we should do this. I love hokey pokey hut am terrible at making it, it always goes wrong for me!
